How to frame textile artwork? / Jak oprawiać tkaninę?

So the other Perfume is ready. And this is another "ready to frame" piece which brings the question "how to frame it?". For me, framing is a perfect solution for small pieces. I like them mounted on passepartout or some other decorative sturdy cartoon. As I just went through one of the older small pieces of mine, I thought it may be good to show you how do I mount it.
No to mamy drugie Perfumy.
The piece is 17 x 26 cm (with irregular shape!) and passepartout is slightly bigger - 21 x 30 cm. I put the artwork on it to find the proper position:
Tkanina ma 17 x 26 cm (i troszkę nieregularny kształt!), passepartout jest ciut większe - 21 x 30 cm. Najpierw ustalam właściwą pozycję:
Then I marked a few points with pencil, making sure they are covered by textile.
W tej pozycji zaznaczam ołówkiem kilka punktów, dbając by były one przykryte tkaniną.
Now it's time to use very precious art tools and make some holes:
No to czas użyć bardzo specjalistycznych narzędzi i zrobić dziurki w zaznaczonych punktach:
So we're in a half way. Now it's just to sew both parts together:
The only thing to take care about is not to sew through the fabric - we don't want to have this thread visible on the front.

Here it is how it looks from the back:
I tak to wygląda z tyłu:
And here is the front:
Tak z przodu:
I've got the side view too :)
A tak z boku :)
Easy peasy, right? And now it is more manageable, it can stand on its own or get frame and hang on the wall. I made a mock up of the Black Perfume "framed".
I don't sell framed artworks because there are many choices for the color and style of the frame. And it should be determined by the place it is going to be hang. There's another frequently asked question - what about the glass? I don't put textile artworks under glass, period.

Odkurzę je i wykorzystam. Dzięki za "gotowca".
Perfumy cudne :)

Fascinating. I always wondering how you displayed your large work. The textile artwork that you used as an example-- is it a cracked wall? I really like it.
