Coffee break / Przerwa na kawę

Yes, a bit long, I know. But you can be sure that the time of my absence here isn't wasted - I'm hard working on some nice commissions and artistic projects too :) Wiem, trochę długa. Ale możecie być pewni, że czas mojej nieobecności tutaj nie jest zmarnowany - pracuję nad fajnymi zamówieniami i nowymi projektami artystycznymi też :)

Back from Berlin / Po Berlinie

As you can see it was a success - here is a toast moment :) Our little crew and Danka, our dear curator - spiritus movens of the whole thing. From left to right: Marzenna , Ania , Danka, Kasia, Jola , me and another Marzena. I didn't take any single picture there, so you better click on linked girls and see how the exhibition looked like. Thank you, girls for everything, from the bottom of my heart! Jak widzicie, był sukces - tak go świętowałyśmy :) My, czyli nasza mała grupka artystek i Danka, nasza kochana kuratorka - spiritus movens całego przedsięwzięcia. Od lewej do prawej: Marzenna , Ania , Danka, Kasia, Jola , ja i Marzena. Sama nie zrobiłam tam ani jednego zdjęcia, zachęcam zatem do odwiedzenia blogów podlinkowanych pań - u nich pełne relacje i mnóstwo zdjęć. A ja tylko jeszcze raz podziękuję Im za wszystko, z głębi serca! And this is my new work exhibited in Berlin which you haven't seen yet - "Panorama". Frankly speaking it is impossible to show it rig

Creative cooperations / Twórcza współpraca

Beside the inspirations and influences I wrote about in the previous post, there's a real life and live people who make difference in my works. The carrot you see above wouldn't happen without my bunny. Oprócz wpływów i inspiracji, o których pisałam ostatnio, jest jeszcze życie i żywi ludzie, którzy także mają spory wpływ na moją pracę. Nie byłoby tej marchewki bez mojego królika. This bunny came to me from the other end of world - from the lovely shop in California . If you remember my attempts to wired trees , you know that I loved it from the first sight. I love everything in it - the design, the craftmenship, the wit. Now it hangs in my kitchen to admire and... to inspire. That's how my textile garden grows :) BTW - while visiting International Triennial of Tapestry this year I discovered another great artist working in wires: Królik przywędrował do mnie z drugiego końca świata - z miłego sklepu w Kalifornii . Jeśli pamiętacie moje zabawy z drucianymi drzewa

Inspirations and influences / Wpływy i inspiracje

You know that I was going to write about inspirations and influences. And here is the perfect piece and timing for talking about it. I already showed it to you earlier - over one year ago . I was going to take part in one show with this quilt but as I realized it wasn't a good choice for this show I stopped working on it. And now there's another show - this time it will go. It will be in June (8-9) in Berlin during Textile Art Berlin - as a small exhibition of Polish art quilters curated by Danka Kruszewska. I will follow my work so anybody in Berlin come and see us :) Wspominałam, że chcę napisać o wpływach i inspiracjach. I oto mamy dobry przykład i okazję, żeby to wreszcie zrobić. To będzie w czerwcu (8-9), w Berlinie, w ramach

Great minds... / Wspólnota myśli

I was just about to write a big post about inspirations and influences in my works when I visited Cathy's Potter Jotter blog and saw the above. Some time ago Cathy said that if her medium was fabric she would sew my quilts and if I was ceramist I would make her pottery. It also turned out that our interests are pretty the same - textile art, Medieval art, gardens, botanical art. We read same books or very similar. And yes, we've never met in person. But I'm afraid she was deeply right :) Właśnie miałam napisać duży post o inspiracjach i wpływach w moich pracach, kiedy zajrzałam do blogu Cathy Potter Jotter i zobaczyłam to co powyżej. Jakiś czas temu Cathy powiedziała, że gdybyśmy zamieniły się mediami to ona szyłaby  moje patchworki, a ja lepiłabym jej ceramikę. Okazało się też, że mamy takie same zainteresowania - tkanina artystyczna, sztuka średniowieczna, ogrody, ilustracje botaniczne. Czytamy te same (albo bardzo podobne) książki. I nigdy nie spotkałyśmy się osobiś

Grey Garden / Szary Ogród

Image
As this year spring colors look much more like my Night Garden than the typical green ones, I decided to stay in this dark tones and make them into jewels :) Ponieważ kolory tej wiosny bardziej przypominają mój "Nocny Ogród" niż zwyczajową wiosenną zieleń, postanowiłam trzymać się tej palety i zrobić z niej świecidełka :) That's how the new jewelry collection was born. I made a few pendants with origami folded flowers on the grey quilted background with black frames. Tak właśnie powstala moja nowa kolekcja tekstylnej biżuterii. To kilka naszyjników z japońskimi kwiatami na szarym, pikowanym tle w czarnych ramkach. I like the result especially because of their strong but delicate look. In real the silver grey finish makes it look sort of lacey. And old fashioned :) Bardzo jestem zadowolona z efektu, który jakoś połączył wyrazistość z delikatnością. Na żywo to obszycie srebrnym szarym robi takie koronkowe wrażenie. I staroświeckie :)   When I put them all

... or even three of them :) ... a nawet trzy :) Almost the same, yet different. Niby takie same, a jednak różne. So they will be framed differently. Dlatego dostaną różne ramki. But same leaves - golden. Ale takie same listki - złote. And different flowers - pink, blue and green. Natomiast różne kwiatki - różowe, niebieskie i zielone. And now we can patiently wait for the real spring :) No i teraz możemy sobie cierpliwie czekać na prawdziwą wiosnę :)
