The Textile Cuisine

With the sun going higher and the days getting longer gotta look for the signs of spring in the kitchen. Little birds say that "Spring is coming to the kitchen" is my newest kitchen portrait in stitches. It is 46 x 57 cm big and contains all kinds of spring surprises. Fresh milk and eggs with the promise of new life accompanied by colorful morning chorus. Clean plates are blooming and fresh water brings much needed vital energy. First greens appear everywhere slowly taking the kitchen space of. Even the old wooden floor can't resist as if trying to connect with sweet blooming memories... So good to see you back, dear Spring! Make yourself at home and stay as long as you wish.

You may remember the birdhouse art quilt I made some time ago (it is HERE ). Now I wanted to play with the same idea and to work on some variations. So here is the brand new "Birdhouse in blue": Może pamiętacie domek dla ptaków, który uszyłam jakiś czas temu (jest TUTAJ ). Teraz wróciłam do tego pomysłu i spróbowałam innych wariantów. Obydwa są małe, z kilkoma tylko ptaszkami, zupełnie inne w klimacie ale wyrosły na tej samej bazie. For the first time in my life (except the childhood) I was dreaming of a real Winter. You know what I mean - white snow, a bit of frost, bright sun and crispy air. Unfortunately this dream didn't come true - it is one of the warmest Winters I can remember. So I'm very happy that I made it myself  - welcome to my Winterland! I know that you like my detailed posts with pictures of progress. But let me confess that it's much bigger pleasure to create so intense that you have no space for taking pictures and thinking about anything else. That's how was with these birds. Since the idea popped in my head I wasn't able to stop until it was almost done: Wiem, że lubicie moje szczegółowe posty ze zdjęciami z poszczegółnych etapów szycia. As you can see they have a room with a view :) Jeżeli zastanawialiście się, co z ptasimi domkami, o których pisałam TUTAJ - macie odpowiedź. Wszystkie ptaszki wylądowały w jednym, dużym domu. I mają pokój z widokiem :) Seems that they like it. I'm only afraid so they won't take beads for the seeds. Wygladają na zadowolone. Boję się tylko, żeby nie wzięły koralików za ziarenka. Yes, it is tree time here! And testing new idea of professional framing my small textile artworks. Just look: Tak, czas na drzewa! I próby nowego sposobu ekspozycji małych form - profesjonalna oprawa. Tylko spójrzcie: This Silver Tree is about 12 x 13 cm (5 x 5.5 in) heavily quilted, embroidered and beaded. And now see this little jewel framed: To Srebrne Drzewo ma ok. 12 x 13 cm i jest dość intensywnie pikowane, haftowane i jeszcze koralikowane. A teraz zobaczcie ten klejnocik oprawiony: Shining like a star, right? That's sounds perfect - I love making trees and it feels good to share my ideas with the students. If you thought I'm done with hens for some time, you were wrong. The idea may seem strange but I had to make an illuminated hen :) Jeżeli myśleliście, że na jakiś czas mam dosyć kur, byliście w błędzie. Pomysł może dziwny, ale musiałam zrobić taką iluminowaną kurę :) There's a lot of different birds in Medieval art, so one more wouldn't really hurt. W średniowiecznej sztuce mnóstwo jest przeróżnego ptactwa, więc i ta nie powinna nikomu przeszkadzać. And you know very well that I like the combination of hen and gold, right?
