The Textile Cuisine

I didn't want to bore you with more trees so meet my new rooster for a change. It is another effect of my Spring visit in the herbal garden I wrote here and here . There I met some amazing roosters and one of them became my model: Nie chciałam zanudzać Was kolejnymi drzewami, więc dzisiaj kogut dla odmiany.  When you jump between castles and barns you may land in the hen house again :) But a bit of folk art never really hurts. The idea for this wall hanging was percolating for some time already. And the source was in this beautiful green felt hand dyed by Anneczka , one of my dear students. Anneczka brought the piece of her felt and just shared it with me. At the moment I had no idea what will I do but when I saw the red fabric in Ania's stash I knew immediately that it was a perfect match for my felt! Jak ktoś tak sobie skacze ze stodoły do zamku to w końcu znowu wyląduje w kurniku :) Ale odrobina sztuki ludowej jeszcze nikomu nie zaszkodziła. Pomysł na tę makatkę dojrzewał już od jakiegoś czasu. A zarzewiem był ten piękny zielony filc ufarbowany własnoręcznie przez Anneczkę , jedną z moich drogich słuchaczek kursowych. Anneczka przyniosła kawałek filcu i po prostu połowę mi dała. W pierwszej chwili nie miałam pojęcia co z nim zrobię, ale kiedy tylko zauważyłam w Ani zbiorac...

Yes, this time they are big and fat and grey. And they just sit and watch the spring coming. No tak, tym razem są duże, tłuste i szare. I tylko siedzą i wypatrują wiosny.  It is funny that when you start playing with the subject, the new ideas keep coming. And that's how another happy couple came to life: To naprawdę niesamowite, że jak się człowiek tak pochyli nad jakimś tematem, kolejne pomysły same przychodzą. I tak właśnie przyszła jeszcze jedna kurza parka: I've had this pretty vintage background fabric for years. But it wasn't until recently when the idea for some lovely folk art serie came to my mind. So it starts from the hen house but the real house is planned too :) Tę pasiastą, naprawdę starą, tkaninę mam już od wielu lat. Ale nie miałam na nią dobrego pomysłu aż do teraz, kiedy wyobraziłam sobie na niej całą folkową serię. Zaczyna się od kurnika, ale prawdziwy dom też jest w planach :) I've made it without any batting - it is just pure ap...

Initially I wanted to make new hen ornaments. But the more I looked around, the more hens I saw (just check out my "Hen House" on Pinterest!) and the more I wanted something more than just ornaments. And the longing for spring made me to work in green. So the first idea was born: Początkowo chciałam zrobić nowe ornamenty. Ale im dłużej kombinowałam, im dłużej się rozglądałam (zobaczcie mój "Hen House" na Pintereście!), tym bardziej chciałam czegoś bardziej niż ornamenty. A tęsknota za wiosną popycha mnie do pracy w zieleni. I tak się urodził pierwszy pomysł: Green grass, blue sky and white hens. Zielona trawa, błękitne niebo i białe kury. Some bits of red and black made it singing: Odrobina czerwieni i czerni podostrzyła kolory: But after finishing it started its own life... Ale po skończeniu, praca zaczęła żyć własnym życiem... What they were talking about? Oh, I got it... O czym one tak gadają? Ach, już wiem... Love..... So here we go: M...

You wonder what am I so busy with and now you see an old hen , right? But there's a reason for this - the handsome guy :) Ciekawi Was czym jestem taka zajęta, a tu jakaś stara kura , tak? Ale jest powód - mam dla niej przystojniaczka :) I'm so happy with him that I had to share it with you. Taka jestem z niego zadowolona, że aż musiałam się Wam pochwalić. I'm afraid there will be another one, in blue: Obawiam się też, że będzie jeszcze jeden, niebieski: And no, it's not all what goes here in the textile cuisine. But the serious stuff demands a bit more space to show and tell about it. So now I'm just documenting the slow process with pictures to show it to you when time allows :) Nie, to nie jest wszystko co się "gotuje" w tej szmacianej kuchni. Ale poważniejsze projekty wymagają trochę więcej przestrzeni, żeby o nich opowiedzieć. Więc na razie tylko dbam o dokumentację zdjęciową, a pokażę, kiedy czas pozwoli :)

Yes, it seems to be finished now! Tak, wydaje się, że praca jest skończona! At least, until I stop loving it again :) Przynajmniej dopóki znowu nie przestanę jej kochać :) And now you can play "find 10 differences between the two pictures": I teraz możecie pobawić się w "wytęż wzrok i znajdź 10 różnic między obrazkami": And I can play with totally new project :) A ja mogę się zająć zupełnie nowym projektem :)

I wanted to change somehow the sky. First I tried embroidering with white thread but it didn't work. So I decided to use my "magic clouds" - silk caps. Now it is almost invisible, like a white foggy clouds. But it adds this white touch and will be even better after washing. Koniecznie chciałam zmienić jakoś to niebo. Najpierw próbowałam podhaftować białą nitką, ale było źle. Więc postanowiłam użyć moich "magicznych chmurek" - mam taki jedwab w postaci waty. Teraz jest prawie niewidoczny, jak taka chmurka z białej mgiełki. Ale rozbiela i po praniu będzie jeszcze lepiej. So I changed also the second part of the fence, to make all the upper part lighter. Zmieniłam też drugą część ogrodzenia, żeby ta górna część stała się lżejsza. But the best part came when one of my dear readers, Anna, asked if it is too late to add the tree. This got me thinking... Where to add the tree and what for? Suddenly I knew - behind the fence! What a great idea and what a pity it wasn...
