The Textile Cuisine

Do you remember THIS OLD POST ? Pamiętacie TEN STARY WPIS ? I was reminded of it while working on some funny Valentine's hearts. Ja sobie przypomniałam o nim w trakcie wymyślania zabawnych Walentynkowych serduszek. So I added some binding and ... voila! My beet in full glory: Niewiele myśląc dodałam wykończenie i... voila! Buraczek w pełnej krasie: And to keep this beety mood a bit longer I made a small apron as a funky wall pocket. Yes, the beginning of a new year puts me in cleaning/organizing mode :) I w takim buraczanym klimacie uszyłam jeszcze kieszonkę na ścianę w formie małego fartuszka. Tak, początek roku to dla mnie czas porządków i reorganizacji :)

That's what I should hang on my door, I guess. Powinnam sobie to chyba powiesić na drzwiach. Why? Because it is true :) Here is a proof:  Dlaczego? Bo to prawda :) Oto dowód: And here is its mother :) A tu jej mamusia :) And yes, I remember, Valentine's Day is coming :) I oczywiście pamiętam o zbliżających się Walentynkach :)

This one is a bit better (at least smaller), but I'm still not there yet. Ta jest trochę lepsza (przynajmniej mniejsza), ale to ciągle jeszcze nie to. The idea for this came from Decameron :) Pomysł na to przyszedł z Dekamerona :) But no, it's not her lover's heart on their table. It is... my coaster :) Ale nie, na ich stole nie leży serce jej kochanka. To moja... podkładka pod kubeczek :) I made a set of 2 for my etsy : Zrobiłam taki zestaw do mojego slepiku : I also quilted a frame of my Good Wife: Wypikowałam też obramowanie mojej Dobrej Żony: And now have to wash it to see how all the vintage fabrics behave :) A teraz muszę to wyprać, żeby zobaczyć jak te wszystkie stare tkaniny się zachowują :)

I don't know about you, but I feel ready for St. Valentine's. My wild strawberries are ready to eat (with your eyes, of course). The background is busy enough and even the touches of gold are added. Nie wiem jak Wy, ale ja jestem do Walentynek gotowa. Poziomki można zjeść (oczami, oczywiście). Tło zapełnione i nawet złote akcenty dodane. But don't forget about Chinese New Year starting tomorrow, the Year of Tiger! Ale nie zapomnijmy, że także jutro zaczyna sie chiński Nowy Rok, Rok Tygrysa!

Let's put commercial part of Valentines aside. Let's think about heart. Do you remember how Babette's cooking has melted cold northern hearts in the old movie "Babette's Feast"? And how important cook's feelings during the process are for the eaters? If not, just go and watch "Like water for chocolate" or "The Ramen girl". And remember - always cook with the heart. If not - call for the pizza. As for the above hearts - do you know where did they come from? From the forrest :) Odłóżmy na bok komercyjną stronę Walentynek. Pomyślmy o sercu. Pamiętacie, jak Babette rozpuściła swoim gotowaniem zimne, północne serca w "Uczcie Babette"? I jak ważne są emocje kucharza w trakcie przygotowywania potrawy dla jej późniejszych zjadaczy? Jeżeli nie, to musicie obejrzeć "Przepiórki w płatkach róży" albo "Miłość ma smak Orientu". I pamiętajcie - zawsze gotujcie z sercem. A jak nie - to lepiej zamówcie pizzę. A co do moich ...
