 There's a lot of autumnal pleasures and walking is one of them. And yes, the trees are what we want to admire the most. So follow me for this autumnal walk through my trees. Here is the starting point - pale, mauve tree on the misty, windy day: Jesień dostarcza nam wielu przyjemności i na pewno należą do nich jesienne spacery. What's better for gloomy autumnal days than a comfort soup? That's why I made one. Czy jest coś lepszego w szary, jesienny dzień niż czekająca na nas miska gorącej, jesiennej zupy? Dlatego taką uszyłam. And yes, I love mushroom soup :) Maybe it isn't an exact recipe but you get a taste. Tak, uwielbiam grzybową :) Może to nie jest dokładny przepis, ale oddaje jej klimat. I really surprised myself deciding on applique the ingredients using classic needle turn method. You didn't like it that I started Autumn so early but I can't help - it is in the air and on my mind. And here you see the proof - "Autumn in the orchard" :) Nie podobało Wam się, że tak wcześnie zaczęłam mówić o jesieni, ale cóż poradzę - czuję ją w powietrzu i w sobie. Najlepszym dowodem moje świeżutka "Jesień  w sadzie" :) Maybe working on this piece made me so positive for Autumn? Może to praca nad nią tak pozytywnie nastroiła mnie na jesień? Frankly speaking we have wonderful weather now - it is still hot in the sun but the air has its autumnal crisp already, which feels very fresh. Zresztą pogoda też całkiem całkiem - słonecznie, gorąco, ale powietrze miłe, chłodne i odświeżające. Did you notice? So now is a perfect time to expose the tree completed few months ago. It is all Autumn - the colors, the leaves and the mood. Zauważyliście? Dla mnie to idealny moment na prezentację drzewa  uszytego wiosną. A jest kwintesencją jesieni - w kolorach, liściach i nastroju. The background is vintage linen hand dyed by me. I don't dye very often but this time I knew exactly what I wanted so it was easy to just follow my vision. The main focus was on leaves - you see the appliqued silk ones, black lace leaves and some bleached too. But wait, there are also gold painted leaves Tło to stary super len farbowany osobiście :) Nie robię tego często, ale tym razem dokładnie wiedziałam czego chcę, więc wystarczyło podążać za wizją. A najważniejsze były liście -  no i mamy tu jedwabne aplikowane, czarne koronkowe, nawet jasne odbarwiane.  Last October my fellow artist Ania Sławińska and I decided to start a common project concerned with flowers. We kept it secret for some time but now we can unveil the whole story. So, the idea was to stitch a portrait of a bouquet of flowers. I asked our friend Basia to make the pretty bouquet for us and... she really went crazy with her creation :) W pażdzierniku wpadłyśmy z Anią Sławińską na pomysł wspólnego przedsięwzięcia szyciowego związanego z kwiatami. Trzymałyśmy to w tajemnicy, ale teraz już upubliczniamy. Pomysł polegał na tym, żebyśmy obie uszyły portret bukietu. Tego samego bukietu. O zrobienie modelu poprosiłam Basię i trzeba przyznać, że dziewczyna zaszalała :) I wanted our model to be made by someone else because I wanted it to be same difficult/easy for Ania and me to stitch it. The weather is beautiful but the days are so short we can't really enjoy it. Falling leaves are more like carpets than tapestries now. I finished this small wall hanging and it is the last one in a series of leaves. Pogoda przepiękna, ale coraz krótsze dnie, nie pozwalają się nią nacieszyć. Liście ze ścian koloru zmieniają się w barwne dywany. Skończyłam też swoje i myślę, że to ostatnie w liściowej serii. I also realized that before I start new projects, I need to make space for them. Literally and mentally. And it is a perfect time for some autumn cleaning - limited daylight makes it less painful to work more on computer or making order on the shelves. Uświadomiłam też sobie, że zanim zacznę nowe projekty, muszę zrobić na nie miejsce. Dosłownie i w przenośni. I to właśnie idealny czas na jesienne porządki - nie żal słonecznego światła na siedzenie przed komputerem i porządkowanie półek. I need to think more of where do I want my art to go next year. So I've got this old quilt of mine depicting falling Autumn leaves hanging in my bedroom. Personally I love it. I've used many colorful scraps I had at the time to make a background for delicate grey autumn leaves. I wanted the leaves to be almost invisible and I succeeded - which isn't all that good considering the amount of work put into cutting and appliqueing them. Mam taką starszą pracę ze spadającymi jesiennymi liśćmi wiszącą w sypialni. Bardzo ją kocham. Wykorzystałam w niej  mnóstwo kolorowych skrawków ulubionych tkanin jako tło dla delikatnych szarych liści. Chciałam, żeby te liście były prawie niewidoczne i udało mi się - tyle, że to trochę bez sensu, biorąc pod uwagę ilość pracy włożoną w ich wycięcie i naszycie. I even decided to add a fine black contour line but as for now I did it just with one leaf in the lower right corner. Mundane task. The shape of leaves is a real challenge for my patience but I still find it beautiful because of their lacy factor.

It depends. While beading red raspberries I wanted something different to relax my eyes. Little did I know how much different. I had a deep need to stitch something dark and shiny. That's how this "Lake in the forest" came to life. To zależy. Podczas szycia malin potrzebowałam jakiejś odmiany dla zrelaksowania oczu. Nie przypuszczałam, że aż takiej odmiany. Miałam głęboką potrzebę szycia czegoś ciemnego i z błyskiem. Tak powstało "Jezioro w lesie" And yes, my eyes were resting during the process. Why? Because it was almost impossible to see anything so I was sewing "from memory". I naprawdę moje oczy przy nim odpoczywały. Dlaczego? Bo trudno tu było zobaczyć cokolwiek, więc szyłam "z pamięci".  I used this rich silk jacquard for the background, dupioni silk for the lake and simple black shapes of trees.
