The Textile Cuisine

Yes, it is tree time here! And testing new idea of professional framing my small textile artworks. Just look: Tak, czas na drzewa! I próby nowego sposobu ekspozycji małych form - profesjonalna oprawa. Tylko spójrzcie: This Silver Tree is about 12 x 13 cm (5 x 5.5 in) heavily quilted, embroidered and beaded. And now see this little jewel framed: To Srebrne Drzewo ma ok. 12 x 13 cm i jest dość intensywnie pikowane, haftowane i jeszcze koralikowane. A teraz zobaczcie ten klejnocik oprawiony: Shining like a star, right? It is available for sale HERE with definitely more to come :) It has to be something in the air for trees because at my last workshop this past Saturday I was asked to carry the one about trees. That's sounds perfect - I love making trees and it feels good to share my ideas with the students. Who wouldn't like to live in a little village? Me :) I'm a city girl which doesn't mean that I don't like little villages - I love them! This new work is a proof. Kto by nie chciał mieszkać w uroczej, cichej wioseczce? Ja :) Jestem zdecydowanie miejska, ale nie przeszkadza mi to lubić takich wiosek, wręcz przeciwnie - uwielbiam je! A oto dowód; Many years ago while coming from Germany we drove through some magic villages, with very specific architecture. I remembered the name of the area and some years later we went there to see more. Wiele lat temu, wracając z Niemiec przejeżdżaliśmy przez takie magiczne wioski, z bardzo specyficzną architekturą. Zapamiętałam nazwę tego regionu i kilka lat później pojechaliśmy tam, żeby zobaczyć więcej. You see what I mean? All the roofs look like knitted Nordic pullovers. This is the Eastern part of Germany called Lusatia . I was more than sure that one day I will use this idea in my artwork. Widzicie, co miałam na myśli

... or even three of them :) ... a nawet trzy :) Almost the same, yet different. Niby takie same, a jednak różne. So they will be framed differently. Dlatego dostaną różne ramki. But same leaves - golden. Ale takie same listki - złote. And different flowers - pink, blue and green. Natomiast różne kwiatki - różowe, niebieskie i zielone. And now we can patiently wait for the real spring :) No i teraz możemy sobie cierpliwie czekać na prawdziwą wiosnę :)

Just to prove that even the simplest things may keep you really busy :) To tylko na dowód, że nawet najprostsze rzeczy potrafią być absorbujące :) So imagine the bigger stuff and you will know why it is so quiet here. But with the upcoming Easter time I had to say something, so - HAPPY EASTER! A teraz wyobraźcie sobie większe projekty i już wiecie, dlaczego tu tak cicho. No ale skoro nadeszła Wielkanoc, to trzeba coś powiedzieć, wobec tego - WESOŁYCH ŚWIĄT!

Well, new flowers, No dobrze, nowe kwiatki, and new white seeds i nowe, białe nasionka are pretty exciting but a bit too slowly. I needed something speedy... są pasjonujące, ale ciut za wolne. Potrzebowałam czegoś szybciutkiego... Virtual quilt, that's the remedy :) Pomógł wirtualny patchwork :)

Every year I make a Christmas tree. The idea is to hang the real piece at my home and to use an image of it for seasonal greeting cards. This allows me to share the same tree with the closest ones and all the friends and nice people I know. If you are here long enough you may remember the tree from last year . And 2 years ago I made this one: Co roku robię choinkę. Wieszam ją potem u nas w domu, a zdjęcia używam jako kartki świątecznej. Dzięki temu i rodzina i przyjaciele i znajomi, słowem wszyscy, dzielimy sie tym samym drzewkiem. Jeśli jesteście ze mną już dość długo to pewnie pamiętacie moje drzewko z ubiegłego roku . A 2 lata temu było takie: This year I'm trying something different: W tym roku próbuję czegoś innego: Yes, the idea came from the big tree . The most challenging part of this year festival is to get there. But I hope it will be just like on my banner - me shining through the mountains of snow. I mailed ornaments yesterday and now have to "mail" myself. I'm almost done - just a few small things (like some lacking sleeves on my works) and Poznan - here I come! This year I will have a small furniture to expose all the small things - hope it will work. Keep your fingers crossed and... see you next week! P.S. Janet, sewing doesn't make any harm to my nails, it is this cleaning/washing/cooking which is much more dangerous :)))) Największym wyzwaniem tegorocznego festiwalu będzie dotarcie tam. Here are you, my dear readers who wanted my ornaments. Oto Wy, moje drogie czytelniczki, które chciałyście moje ornamenty.
