The Textile Cuisine

A few weeks ago I was nicely surprised by Magda , who made beautiful angel and kindly credited my works for her inspiration. Her angel is amazing and you have to see it HERE . Her artwork reminded me of one of mine works in progress (not seen anywhere yet) - "All Saints". Initially I wanted to make new hen ornaments. But the more I looked around, the more hens I saw (just check out my "Hen House" on Pinterest!) and the more I wanted something more than just ornaments. And the longing for spring made me to work in green. So the first idea was born: Początkowo chciałam zrobić nowe ornamenty. Ale im dłużej kombinowałam, im dłużej się rozglądałam (zobaczcie mój "Hen House" na Pintereście!), tym bardziej chciałam czegoś bardziej niż ornamenty. A tęsknota za wiosną popycha mnie do pracy w zieleni. I tak się urodził pierwszy pomysł: Green grass, blue sky and white hens. Zielona trawa, błękitne niebo i białe kury. Some bits of red and black made it singing: Odrobina czerwieni i czerni podostrzyła kolory: But after finishing it started its own life... Ale po skończeniu, praca zaczęła żyć własnym życiem... What they were talking about? Oh, I got it... O czym one tak gadają? Ach, już wiem... Love..... So here we go: M

 I had to put Auriculas into the title just in case you wouldn't recognize them in the picture :) So, it is not that I was going to sew hen ornaments but instead switched into primroses. No, the idea of this art quilt was born 3 years ago, when I learned about Auriculas Theatres. Anglicy mają taką piękną tradycję prymulkowych teatrzyków. I to nie jest tak, że miałam szyć kury, ale zmieniłam zdanie i machnęłam prymulki. Nie, ten pomysł urodził się 3 lata temu, jak dowiedziałam się o tych kwiatowych teatrach. I guess, the first time I saw it was in Janet Haigh's book (take a look at her blog where is even more about her take on this subject). But then came the book about Mrs Delany and her lovely flowers or wonderful gentle author's Spitalfields blog posts . So the idea was born and seemed easy to do. No, it was not done on purpose. When I reached to the cupboard for this cup (it was the best match to my piece) it turned out to be broken. As we didn't have any earthquakes lately (as if we've ever had) it had to be my high concentration and a bit too intense work put into this "Porcelain" art quilt. Now you know why I don't make portraits :) Nie, nie zrobiłam tego celowo. Kiedy sięgnęłam do kredensu po najbardziej pasującą filiżankę, okazało się, że jest ona pęknięta na pół. Ponieważ nie było tu ostatnio żadnego trzęsienia ziemi (nie to, żeby kiedykolwiek było) to musiał być efekt mojej maksymalnej koncentracji i intensywnego skupienia przy pracy nad "Porcelaną".
