The Textile Cuisine

In answer to my audience's demand I made some progress in the apples :) W odpowiedzi na pytania publiczności podgoniłam trochę z jabłkami :) The progress isn't big enough to share but because of some other hapenings I decided to make a post. It is always nice when your seeds come to the good soil. So I was really pleased when I saw this drawing on my daughter's wall :) Postęp nie jest zbyt duży, ale ponieważ pojawiły się jeszcze inne rzeczy "w tym temacie", postanowiłam zrobić nowy wpis. Otóż bardzo miło jest widzieć jak nasze ziarna padają na podatny grunt, prawda? While sitting, embroidering, drinking coffee and thinking I found this: Jak tak sobie siedzę, haftuję, piję kawę i myślę to znajduję też różne ciekawe rzeczy: Pretty dreadfull, right? There's more of them, here . Good cooks from Nuremberg. But their kitchens aren't as bad. And for me, they are very inspirational. So I want to have one too. That's where my idea for the brown kitchen was born. Upiorna, prawda? A TU jest więcej takich. Dobre kucharki z Norymbergii. Ale ich kuchnie nie są takie złe. Dla mnie, na przykład, bardzo inspirujące. Dlatego też chcę mieć taką. Tu się właśnie narodził pomysł mojej brązowej kuchni. I've started with pantry and now have a stove too. If you think that handwork isn't tiring you are wrong. It is. Jeżeli myślicie, że ręczna robota nie jest męcząca to jesteście w błędzie. Jest. I like all the ideas coming to my mind while working on details but to make them into reality is a separate chapter. Lubię te wszystkie świetne pomysły, które przychodzą mi do głowy w trakcie dłubania szczególików, ale zrealizować je to zupełnie osobny rozdział. Let's take this raspberry. Wouldn't it be fun to have the whole border full of them? Weźmy taką malinkę. Nie byłoby fajnie mieć ich mnóstwo w całym obramowaniu? No, thank you :) So now I'm dreaming about making a new piece entirely by machine... And I know I want to make another kitchen. This time in browns. But it is difficult to start something new while you are so much involved in all these small things not-done-yet. I would prefer to have all the previous works finished, collected in the baskets with a nice feeling of a good harvest. Just like in this old work of mine

Here's some progress I made on the market. Peas, berries, herbs, you name them. It doesn't make sense to take the big picture - you wouldn't see them all. And all those pictures give you an idea how I work - a little bit here, a little bit there, with no plan, just filling empty places. And there's a lot of them :) Mały postęp na rynku jest. Groszki, jagódki, zioła, co chcecie. Nie ma sensu robić dużego zdjęcia, bo ciężko będzie to wszystko na nim zauważyć. A z drugiej strony właśnie tak pracuję - troszkę w tym miejscu, troszkę w tamtym, bez planu, po prostu zapełniam puste miejsca. A jest ich sporo :)

The market is ready for handwork. Rynek gotowy do ręcznej robótki. The apples are in the handwork process already. Jabłka już są w "ręcznej robótce". Which one will be finished first? Kto pierwszy na mecie?

I don't know if you count them (I don't!) but believe me, there's more of them :) Nie wiem, czy Wy je liczycie (ja nie!), ale uwierzcie, naprawdę trochę ich przybyło :) I've added some smaller tomatoes and potatos are getting their greens too. Dodałam też mniejsze pomidorki i ziemniaki zaczynają dostawać swoją porcję zielonego. That's how it looks now: Teraz to wyglada tak:

The machine-part of the market is coming to the end. Now I'm working on the frame and when it is done I will add the binding. Maszynowa część pracy nad rynkiem zbliża się do końca. Teraz pracuję nad ramą, a po niej wykończę brzegi. After washing, the handwork starts. Po praniu przyjdzie czas haftów i innych uzupełnień ręcznych.

I know that I'm going backward - all the trees are loosing their leaves and mine are getting new ones :) That's the power of creation, it is your world based on your rules. I like it :) Tomatos are growing up too :) Wiem, że idę w przeciwnym kierunku - teraz, gdy wszystkie drzewa tracą liście, moje zaczynają wypuszczać nowe :) To właśnie potęga tworzenia, budujesz świat na własnych zasadach. While working on the "Market" I keep reading and watching lots of interesting veggie-oriented materials. Now I have to share with you my latest discovery. Pracując nad "Rynkiem" czytam i oglądam mnóstwo rzeczy o tematyce warzywno-owocowej. I muszę podzielic się z Wami moim najnowszym odkryciem. Isn't he lovely? I must confess, that their names said nothing to me. So imagine my surprise when it turned out that George Him was born in my city, Lodz. Some months ago, while working on my "Kartoffelsuppe" , I learned from Racaire that in Austria potatoes are called "Erdapfel" - apples of the earth. I knew immediately that I will use this knowledge creatively. At first I wanted to make two trees - apple tree and potato tree as a mirror picture underground. But then came another bit of linguistic knowledge - in French tomatoes are called "pommes d'amour" (apples of love). And this makes a composition :) Parę miesięcy temu, gdy szyłam "Kartoffelsuppe" , dowiedziałam się od Racaire , że w Austrii ziemniaki nazywane są "Erdapfel" - ziemnymi jabłkami. Od razu wiedziałam, że wykorzystam tę świeżo pozyskaną wiedzę w swojej twórczości. Najpierw chciałam zrobić po prostu dwa drzewa - jabłkowe i ziemniaczne jako podziemne, lustrzane odbicie.
