Auriculas Theatre / Teatr wiosny zaprasza

I had to put Auriculas into the title just in case you wouldn't recognize them in the picture :) So, it is not that I was going to sew hen ornaments but instead switched into primroses. No, the idea of this art quilt was born 3 years ago, when I learned about Auriculas Theatres.
I guess, the first time I saw it was in Janet Haigh's book (take a look at her blog where is even more about her take on this subject). But then came the book about Mrs Delany and her lovely flowers or wonderful gentle author's Spitalfields blog posts. So the idea was born and seemed easy to do.
Unfortunately I got stuck. I liked the simple arrangement of the pots with flowers but somehow couldn't find "my way" for the whole scene. And every year at the end of winter I was pulling this project, thinking and... putting it back. This year it finally sparked.

I wanted it to be theatre but the light one, more a musical but still in the theatre's setting.
Chciałam teatru, ale lekkiego, raczej musical niż dramat.
With light, airy curtain created mostly by quilting, many layers of quilting:
Z delikatną, zwiewną kurtyną, uzyskaną za pomocą pikowania:

And with a star on the first plan
No i z gwiazdą na pierwszym planie
Yes, you see it right - this part is quilted with golden thread :)
We are almost there
No już prawie
Now the handwork part and here it is:
Jeszcze tylko ręczna robótka i oto jest:
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my "Auriculas Theatre"! And yes, the lower part isn't flat :)
Szanowni Państwo, witajcie w moim "Teatrze Wiosny"! Tak, tak, dolna część nie jest płaska :)
This effect was done by the quilting with a little help of hand embroidery stitches
Osiągnęłam to głównie pikowaniem i podkreśliłam hafcikiem
This wave adds some feeling of a light, spring wind
Ten falujący dół daje wrażenie lekkiego, wiosennego podmuchu
So, welcome Spring! Yes, I feel it already - stitching flowers (see them HERE)
No to witaj Wiosno! Ja ją już czuję - szyję kwiaty (zobaczcie je TUTAJ)
and to eat greens (or at least to dream about them - this pillow may help!).
And yes, there are some hens on the horizon :)
No i widać jakieś kury na horyzoncie :)
